Hillwood Museum Russian Roots Family Day - Washington DC
Hillwood is pleased to welcome families formed through adoption
at our Russian Roots Family Day on Sunday, March 10, 1-4 pm.
Become royalty for the day as you discover Russian culture and
traditions from the past, connect with other families, and create
your own imperial treasures. Arrive at 1 pm to gather with
families for a welcome with Russian treats. Embark on a quest for
Russian treasures in the new special exhibition in Hillwood's
Dacha, explore exquisite Russian art in the Mansion, and engage
in a family art project to create a treasure of your own to take
home.
Our annual Russian Roots Family program is held in March this
year to coincide with the special exhibition, Pageant of the
Tsars: The Romanov Coronation Albums (open February 16-June 8).
Explore the exhibition, celebrate the 400th anniversary of the
founding of the Romanov dynasty, and experience the pomp and
pageantry that marked the grand coronations of Russia's
illustrious ruling family.
E-publications on iPads throughout the exhibition allow you to
page digitally through the albums and immerse yourself in the
details of the illustrations. Exquisite imperial treasures from
Hillwood's renowned Russian art collection and other private
lenders further explore the Romanov's lasting influence on
Russian art and culture with crystal goblets, jeweled badges,
lavish menus, and majestic portraits.
For families formed through adoption with children of all ages
from Russia and neighboring countries.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for Hillwood members, $5 for
children ages 6-18, and free for children under 6.*
